I know from personal experience that I have towed 2 Jeeps on my Gooseneck trailer estimated at 17k vs Towing 1 Jeep on my pintle pull deck over trailer estimated at 10k. ![]() I was under the impression that for optimal stability and weight placement that it should be slightly in front of the centerline of the rear axle housing. I understand the deal with the short bed and bed clearance but what I am not 100% comfortable with is moving the weight rearward. I think B&W makes something that connects into their gooseneck hitch. ![]() Personally I have never hauled a 5th wheel trailer but I may in the future. I wanted to say thanks to the person who posted the links with pictures I have found it difficult to find pictures of Rambox trucks with 5th wheels I have pulled my Gooseneck with this setup a few times and I have not had any issues I looked into this and from what I remember the Rambox cargo management plastic parts were in the way and I would have lost that position to mount that into if that makes sense. I think the regular beds mount the connector back by the tailgate in a narrow pocket on the drivers side between the tailgate and bed side. Keep in mind that to the best of my knowledge the Rambox trucks do not have the option available for the factory 5th wheel prep group. The wiring plugs in between the factory harness and the 7 wire plug on the bumper if that makes sense. The factory 7 wire trailer connector is still on the bumper and functioning. ![]() I have seen people mount them lower but my fear with that if cargo were sliding around and breaking off the cover. I wanted to put it up even higher but the way the metal is formed in that pocket I think I went about as high as I was safely able to go without the possibility of issues and once the hole is drilled its permanent. I purchased the Mopar 5th wheel/gooseneck wiring kit however I had to drill the hole and choose the location for it.
